Following a day of taking photographs on Hart Tor spoil heaps we wandered back, Sam, Steve and I, across the Meavy and up to Black Tor falls and onward to the car.  A successful day we thought. Sam had got his stats and photos for his degree project and would be able to complete it very soon.
The following day we were walking on the moor once again.  Quite a way from the area we had visited the previous day, when my phone rang.  A Sammy sound, I said, and we stopped to take the call, he was lucky to reach us as often the signal is poor on Dartmoor.  “Hi mum, where are you?”  on Dartmoor I told him.  
“Ah, great.  My pictures from yesterday weren't that great, could you just pop over and do some more pictures of the sedges and Tormentil for me?”
Well, what could I say?  Two hours detour later, we arrived at Hart Tor and took the pictures he wanted.  If only he knew what an effort that was.  Just pop over!  If only he knew!
